Today I implemented cubic spline interpolation and bicubic spline interpolation. I'm going to be using the bicubic spline interpolation on the image data from the optical slit scanner in the experiment. I still don't really know how to reconsile the horizontal scanner data with the vertical scanner data. I also need to start working on the materials and methods part of my paper for undergraduate research program. I have to turn it in on friday to the peer group.

I've come to the conclusion over the past few years that many people today don't form lifelong friendships. Personal I don't have any non family friends that I've know for more than a couple of years. I know this is also true for my sisters what is interesting is that it not quite as true tor my parents they do have friends that they've know for 20+ years. If anyone out there whould care to comment on whether you've had lifelong friends.

I still don't know what I really want to do with my life. Do I want to become a programmer, mathmatician, physicist, manager, professor? I've been leaning towards mathmatician but I love to code. What could help me decide?

I was reading Eric Sinks excellent article on marketing Eric Sink and I realized a lot of this applies to me personally. One of things he mentioned is acknowledging your weakness. From looking at myself my personal weekness is my skill at writing. This leads into one of my other guiding principles in life nothing is worth doing if it's not worth doing well. I almost always apply this principle in regard to my code. I think code should be beautifully and elegant and it bothers me when it'...

I've been thinking about little mathematical projects I have. I've been thinking and wondering should I devout more time to them. I become unsatisfied with a certain area of mathmatics and feel like I should add something new to the existing field of knowledge. The question is are any of my addtitions useful? I don't know? More time need to be spent tweaking the ideas I have so they are more elegant. Could I get a paper in a journal out of the work I've done?

I had another fun weekend. I went over to my uncles in half moon bay,ca. We flew model gliders and he let my drive his truck on twisty windy country roads. I'm starting to get better at driving. It was a lot of fun driving down the canyons ridges of the coast range on the pensiula.

Work on the SPE file loader written in C as a python plugin. 3. Work on my real project which is analysizing the optical slit data. 4. Work on analysing the images of the ion beam. My first thought about working at the lab is that it's pretty stressful. This past week my the person I'm working under has been gone so I've been working with another guy on an experiment with ion beams. Which has been very fun and I wish I could continue working under him for the rest of the summer but my real boss is coming back next week so I'll have to work on other stuff. I have to write a paper by the end of the summer which will be alot of work. Anyways I'm glad I got this three day...

I just finished creating a simple webpage for my tetris like game. I also cleaned up the game so it's ready for general release to the public. I'm hoping to get happypenguin.org to add it to their list of games. Heres the webpage for it http://worldracer.sourceforge.net/tex.html

Yesterday my sister graduated from UC Davis with a degree in linguistics! She's the first one of us three kids to get a degree. I was pretty excited about it. I then proceded to forget to bring my cell phone back with me to berkeley so today I took the 7:29 a.m train to davis and the 4:25 p.m. back to berkeley.

I'm at my dorm room and I was thinking about working on work related projects and then I saw that eveybody else was playing video games. This influenced me not to do work related stuff. Instead I'm more likely to play games. This just shoes what a tremendous influence sociaty has on individuals. I should mention that the people in my dorm aren't your average college students there're all fellowship students at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. So we're talking about the best of the best.

Automating the still camera for taking pictures of notes. This is for video conferceing 2. Working on the physics of ion beams. 3. Optomizing the code for the ion beam simulator(Warp) It looks to be an exiting summer.

My first day was pretty good at lawence berkeley lab. Everthing went smoothly. I spent the whole day in orientation. Which was exausting. The only bad thing is that I'll be working on an imac. I don't really like macs as much as PC's And my mentor won't be back from princton till next week! Also my I haven't gotten the internet working in my room at Telegraph Commons so I'm posting from an internet cafe across the street. But all of these are little things.

No I'm not a student at berkeley. I'm here for my summer intership at the lawerence livermore lab here. So far it's okay. I haven't gotten the internet to work in my room yet so I'm writing from an internet cafe. This being my first time living away from family I'm rather nervious. I'm going to the lab tomorrow so wish me luck!
