I should be studying for my math final. But I felt like taking a break to update my blog. I was thinking about how much I talk to people and I concluded that it's pretty rare for me to have much of a conversation with anybody. I talk to my sisters and parents everyday but not much. Anyways things I going pretty good. I just have to do well on my finals to do well in my classes so that's pretty much all I'm thinking about right now.

The professor for my analytical mechanics class had to go to INS(Imigration Naturalization Service) to get new finger prints. So the TA taught. And he was bad! The class was correcting his mistakes and finally he made so many mistakes that we quit correcting him! The quiz at the end of class was doable I hope I got the correct answer my last quiz I only got 8/10 the average was 5/10. In other news my ray tracer is coming along and I now have diffuse lighting and shadows. The shadows are...

I got a job monitoring the computer lab in the Computer Science department at UC Davis. This is really cool for me because the hours are just right Sunday 10am-6pm and it's doing something relaxing just monitoring the lab so hopefully when it's not busy I can do my homework and program. The only bad thing is it's only $6.75 an hour but that the price I pay for getting a job that won't interfear with school which is very important. I'm also hoping that I'll get to know the computer scien...

Tomorrow is my last day working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Labatory. I miss the people and events at the same time I'm ready for a vacation. I'll be really really happy to do some hiking. My mom dad and I are going to Mount Rainer the week after next which I'm really looking forward to. Next summer I'm going to try and get a intership at UC Davis mainly because I'll already be going to school there so housing will be paid for and it won't be as stressful.

We had the Lawarence Berkeley Lab Poster event today. This is where all the undergraduate interns present their posters. They had a big room where you would velcro you poster to the poster boards and people would walk around and hopefully ask you questions about your poster. I think my poster was pretty good I had about 5 or 6 people ask me questions about it of course most of them were from the group I work in but I'm still happy about. Now I'm pretty much just wrapping up. I have to submit ...

I reading at how the only way to get good at writing is to write a lot. Sadly I tend to have a very strong internal filter so I don't write what I really feel. This makes it so I don't write much at all. I am going to be more like darmagirl and be blunt.

Today I implemented cubic spline interpolation and bicubic spline interpolation. I'm going to be using the bicubic spline interpolation on the image data from the optical slit scanner in the experiment. I still don't really know how to reconsile the horizontal scanner data with the vertical scanner data. I also need to start working on the materials and methods part of my paper for undergraduate research program. I have to turn it in on friday to the peer group.

I was reading Eric Sinks excellent article on marketing Eric Sink and I realized a lot of this applies to me personally. One of things he mentioned is acknowledging your weakness. From looking at myself my personal weekness is my skill at writing. This leads into one of my other guiding principles in life nothing is worth doing if it's not worth doing well. I almost always apply this principle in regard to my code. I think code should be beautifully and elegant and it bothers me when it'...

My first thought about working at the lab is that it's pretty stressful. This past week my the person I'm working under has been gone so I've been working with another guy on an experiment with ion beams. Which has been very fun and I wish I could continue working under him for the rest of the summer but my real boss is coming back next week so I'll have to work on other stuff. I have to write a paper by the end of the summer which will be alot of work. Anyways I'm glad I got this three day...

My first day was pretty good at lawence berkeley lab. Everthing went smoothly. I spent the whole day in orientation. Which was exausting. The only bad thing is that I'll be working on an imac. I don't really like macs as much as PC's And my mentor won't be back from princton till next week! Also my I haven't gotten the internet working in my room at Telegraph Commons so I'm posting from an internet cafe across the street. But all of these are little things.
